My 33rd Spring

My 33rd Spring is a series that explores rebirth in the Southern landscape. The age 33 is often referred to as the Jesus Year, the year scholars say Jesus was crucified. During this particular Spring of this particular year, the artist interpreted her own Jesus year through the lens of the landscape. My 33rd Spring investigates the concept that for the artist, during the springtime and at the age of 33, life’s tragedy, oppressive beauty and potential simultaneously came to light and was revealed to her through the landscape.

In these images one finds a feeling of change that moves from the personal to the universal, yet all the while seeming somehow to stay in precisely the same place.
